UPGRADE VERSION OF THE WAY I DID IT

Hellow!

I’m trying my best to keep my promise in the  previous post  to show you how I used to present a logo design and the upgrade version of the way I did it.

FYI, I started as a noob if not dumb and dumber, in this field. I have totally zero experience in designing a logo or branding. I was learning how to use Coreldraw and photoshop back in high school but my knowledge was  as thin as High school typical handbook Hahaha.
I began to dig more about design in my college stage. I LOVE DRAWING, and unfortunately, people around me believe if someone loves to draw than she can do design! What a fuss! Designing and drawing are 2 totally different things even though there’s a link between them.  How could they be different? I may write a post about it someday based on my noob perception, but if you curious enough, there's always a bunch of articles in the internet.

I can refer Ruang waktu to be my first child as a freelance graphic designer. Because back in September 2016 , I graduated from freelancing and had been working as a graphic designer in my friend’s company called Cerah creative. You can see their talented work in their page. When I was a freelancer, I didn’t do a deep research while doing a project. So, I didn’t know how a logo should be presented. What’s the content of a logo presentation?  What is branding guidelines?
Then, I ended up bringing this to the competition. Hahaha

Whatta shame. Only if I could ride a time machine, maybe I will just yell at my own self.

Thanks to my non-freelancer graphic designer job , I gotta force myself to learn much more (even though I'm no longer there).  I started to read design related things in logogeek-uk.com or canva, or some random websites about branding and designing. There’s an author said

that how you present your design work is as important, if not more, than the physical design phase.

And I see my self nodded at that time. The way you present your work is playing a big role.  You have to hit the right knob out of your client.

To mention about presenting a logo, because I made this logo for online competition, I don't have to deliver the idea through a live presentation. Thus, one that should be prepared is the presentation slide. I think a simple brand guideline is enough. I know the initial version was a mess, wkwkw. So, I make an upgrade version of the way I present this logo

Wanna look closer?

First slide has to be simple and clean. I hope the client can see the detail without being distracted with noisy background.

I wanna give some spotlight about the overall feeling and meaning behind this logo

In this slide, I reveal some hidden meanings about this logo’s structure

This grid hepls the client if they want to make a bigger scale of the logo , such as wallsign etc

Add some realistic implementation. NAME CARD IS NEVER FAIL!

The typography gives the information to the client about what font is best paired with the logo

Add some realistic implementation. Outdoor board

colour palette and typography are important to ensure that all parties use the brand element consistently

Ah, If you wanna look for some inspiration about logo and branding,  I definitely suggest you to visit kreavi.com. There's a looooot of GREAAAAAAAAT design there.
