A random quote hits me hard

I always have a vision that this blog will be my confined space filled by my design-related work. But it turns out, I found it hard to keep in line with creative work in the midst of my actual work life.  That’s how this blog has been neglected for the past 2 years. The plan of routine posts being stalled. So, I decided to post anything out of my design work from now.

Recently, I’m back into the habit of reading. I often declare myself as an adventure romance book worm who apt to pick a fiction book rather than others. I did read some self-help motivational books. But I’m quite hard to find delight when reading nonfiction, let alone a book full of philosophy that have me thinking -some kind of wise man with silver hair is talking in my brain-. But like the other human being, adulthood hits me hard. Hard enough to alters my taste of books. Since when did I put the psychology book into my cup of tea, ha???!!

So, I have been reading a stack of nonfiction. Then unintentionally, I found a quote by Einstein, it’s said...

“Reading, after a certain age, diverts the mind too much from its creative pursuits. Any man who reads too much and uses his own brain too little falls into lazy habits of thinking.

And that’s so true! Reading certainly is an enjoyable activity and of course, gives you a lot of benefits. But personally, the fruits of learning new things through reading degrades over time. Sometimes I forget what’s inside the book after a year. Makes me realize, that the book is not well precipitate in my long-term memory. Perhaps the book didn't leave any deep impression on me, but I think it’s more or less because I’m not putting much attention to the book itself. I understood it at a time but not really thinking about it comprehensively, so it faded away easily. That's how the einstein quote managed to satirize me. That’s me the human that reads too much and falls into lazy habits of thinking. Haha, feeling offended by just a quote.

So here I am, planning to spare my leisure time to do the blurbs review about some books ahead in the future. I know that’s not exactly the meaning of einstein quotes. But, I think writing a book review will help someone to develops a new skill, perhaps.

With pleasure,

Choirin
